Creating a Culture of "Can"

Does the post title catch your attention?  I hope so.  I don't see many followers on my blog and I need and appreciate your input pro or con.

I felt the information shared in this blog is aligned with what each one of us in this group is trying to develop as productive changes in our education system for each student's success.

I sure like the model..."show me, help me, let me."

  1. I enjoyed the article and feel that I try to instill this culture of "can" daily in the classroom. I hear a lot of "I can't" in my first grade classroom and I always reply back "yes you can." I would say that 9 out of 10 times the student can do what they thought they couldn't. It's great seeing their faces light up when they accomplished something they thought they couldn't. As educators we have to make sure we live in the culture of "can" when so many new ideas and technology are coming our way.

  2. I think students from any grade level can benefit more from being more responsible, more independent and with a more "can do" attitude. My kindergarteners are capable of a lot more than some would give them credit for...but they also will perform according to expectations. They also feel a sense of ownership and accomplishment by being able to use the word can instead of can't.
